Locks

What are token locks?

A token lockescrows an amount of a meme token until an unlock time. Locked balance cannot be transferred or sold until that time (or until you unlock after it passes). Locks are on-chain and visible to everyone on the token's Locks tab.

Creator first-buy lock

When creating a coin, the creator can optionally lock the first buy — the initial purchase taken at launch is placed into a lock with a chosen duration instead of sitting freely in the wallet.

That signals longer-term commitment: early creator inventory stays time-locked while the curve (and later the DEX) trades around it.

First-buy lock is configured on the Launchpad create form alongside name, image, and graduation target.

Lock more tokens (anyone)

Anyone holding the token can create an additional lock: choose an amount and a duration, then confirm. The tokens move into the lock escrow until the unlock timestamp.

  • Useful for team allocations, community vesting, or personal diamond-hand commitments.
  • Each lock has its own id, owner, amount, and unlock time.

Extend without unlocking

Lock owners can extenda lock's unlock time at any moment — you do not need to unlock first. Extending only pushes the unlock further into the future; it does not release tokens early.

When the unlock time is reached, the owner can unlock to return the tokens to their wallet. Until then, extend is the way to lengthen the commitment.

Extending is irreversible in the sense that you can only move unlock later, not earlier — plan durations carefully.

View locks on token detail

Open any token page and select the Lockstab to see locks for that token — amounts, owners, unlock times, and status. Use it to verify a creator's first-buy lock or other community locks before you trade.
